Anja Steketee (1958, Rotterdam) studeerde aan de Ambachtelijke Opleiding Keramische technieken aan de Nederlandse Keramiekopleiding in Gouda en ontving de Talent Award voor haar werk in 2015. Een belangrijke bron van inspiratie en conceptueel uitgangspunt binnen veel van haar recente werk is de architectuur van de stad. De veelvoud aan bouwwerken vormen voor haar een boeiend schouwspel aan ritmische patronen van lijnen en vlakken. Afhankelijk van het tijdstip, de lichtval en de plaats waarop de toeschouwer zich ergens bevindt, ontstaat er telkens weer een ander beeld. In tegenstelling tot de vastomlijnde gebouwen in een stad, zijn er met de elementen van haar werk een veelvoud aan verschillende composities te configureren. De onderdelen van haar werken nodigen uit tot rangschikken naar eigen inzicht en idee, door te stapelen of aan elkaar te schakelen. Een vorm van spelen met de verbeelding

Anja Steketee studied at the Craft Training Ceramics and the Dutch Ceramics Training in Gouda and received the Talent Award for her work in 2015. An important source of inspiration and conceptual starting point in much of her recent work is the architecture of the city. The multitude of buildings forms a fascinating spectacle for her of rhythmic patterns of lines and surfaces. Depending on the time, the light and the place where the spectator is located, a different image is created. In contrast to the defined buildings in a city, the elements of her work allow a multitude of different compositions to be configured. The parts of her works invite to arrange according to her own insight and idea, by stacking or connecting. A form of playing with the imagination.
